impression of St. Ives in winter, all these

year.
Here’s a quick guide to St. Ives at different
times of the year:
December/January/February
St. Ives has become a very popular Christmas and
New Year destination and is often almost as busy
as in the Summer months. Visitors come to enjoy
authentic Christmas celebrations followed by our
famous New Year’s Eve party where the whole town
dresses up in a festival of costumes and
celebration. Late January and February finds St.
Ives at its quietest, when it is possible to
walk on a beach or on the coastal path without
encountering any crowds. It’s still possible to
enjoy relatively mild sunny days during this
period, but many visitors also come in the hope
of seeing a spectacular storm with dramatic
seascapes and huge winter skies.
Most of the galleries, restaurants and shops
remain open throughout the year and many
visitors prefer to visit at this quieter time.
March and April
The days are getting longer and the weather is
becoming warmer, but it is still possible to
enjoy the excitement of the odd storm.
May and June
These are usually beautiful months to be in St.
Ives with bright Atlantic days, sea pink flowers
on the cliffs and the longer Summer evenings.
July, August and September
August is probably the busiest month, but the
beauty of St. Ives is that it’s always possible
to find a quiet haven within walking distance of
the main attractions. In mid-September, the St.
Ives Arts Festival produces an impressive list
of visiting poets, singers, performers as well
as open days for artists’ studios and cultural
and educational lectures.
October and November
These are beautiful months to come to St. Ives,
when the weather can still be warm and sunny,
and the school holiday crowds are long gone.
